The Lawyer’s Secret to Joy, Peace and Power

That’s exactly what we explored in this month’s Female Lawyers’ Club masterclass with the brilliant Jackie Williamson, a former solicitor who now helps lawyers avoid burnout and find a life they genuinely love.

Your vibrational frequency, shaped by your thoughts, emotions and energy, determines how you experience the world, how you deal with stress, and even what you attract. And the best part is that you can change it.
Start your day with intention.
Before you reach for your phone or tackle your to-do list, take a quiet moment (eyes still closed if you can) to set an intention for your day.
How do you want to feel? Calm? Grateful? Joyful? Confident?
Picture yourself moving through your day in that state, and feel it in your body, as if it’s already happened. This simple morning practice tunes your mind and body to a higher frequency from the start.
Reconnect with what you loved doing as a child.
When was the last time you asked yourself: What did I love to do when I was little?
Was it drawing? Climbing trees? Dancing in your room?
Often, those childhood joys hold the key to what still brings us energy and lightness. Even if you can’t do the exact same things now, you can find a grown-up version that brings you similar joy.
Sprinkle in small, joyful moments every day.
Jackie calls them “pockets of fun.”
We often wait for a full weekend off or a big holiday to feel good – but those moments are too rare. Instead, build a joy list of things you love to do, quick 5-10 minute boosts like:
Putting on your favourite uplifting song
Taking your pencil for a walk (a member taught us this lovely phrase in the session!)
Stepping outside for fresh air and a moment of stillness
Colour-coding your to-do list because it secretly brings you joy.
These things aren’t frivolous - they’re fuel.

One of the most powerful takeaways of the session was that authenticity has a higher frequency than love.
The more you speak up, set boundaries, show your quirks, and stop masking who you are at work, the more confident, magnetic and calm you become.
